Mark breathed in the flowered air. The sweet scent flowed from the small flower gardens plotted around the AdvanceSmart campus. The petals were protected from the intense afternoon heat by the branches of the palm trees swaying overhead. The vegetation was placed perfectly to align between the shadows of the towering office buildings, giving life to the corporate structures. Birds flew overhead, celebrating the daily return of the sunlight beaming off the bright sidewalks.

And next to him, a woman was bent over a fountain as a man in a tie thrust into her from behind.

He blinked, trying not to stare. Not that it was rude; it was usually welcome as a prelude to joining. But he wanted to blend in. Everyone he’d come across had instantly recognized him as a newcomer.

In his defense, it was a lot to take in. He’d moved in to an apartment in Eros, the major city of Elutheria, less than twentyfour hours ago. This was his first full day in the country, and the stress was already starting to wear on him.

It wasn’t just physical stress, although that played a part. He’d finished four times in that short time, close to a personal record from before. The last one on the bus had left him completely drained from the sheer intensity of the orgasm. But he was used to dealing with a nagging tiredness. Mentally, the number of paradigm shifts he’d undergone while in Eros had given his psyche a beating.

Elutheria was wildly different than most countries. The most obvious reason was the free use contract. Every citizen entering Elutheria had been required to sign the Code of Consent, which allowed any citizen to ually use any other at any time, with several exception clauses. This had led to a culture unlike any Mark had experienced, not even close. was viewed as casually as a conversation; maybe easier to strike up, since you didn’t even need the conversation to initiate with a stranger.

And Elutheria itself was paradise. The bulk of the country had been founded on land formerly belonging to Mexico by billionaire Jean Philus and developed by his massive engineering firm, AdvanceSmart. The country had been created from scratch by some of the best and brightest, leading to an ecological and technological wonder. Desert had been converted into lush farmland, lowering the intense summer heat to a manageable degree. Yearround bikini season weather meant most citizens preferred to exercise their constitutional rights in public, just as this couple was doing now.

The man checked his watch as the woman’s large rear slapped into his hips. Mark reflexively glanced at his own. It was 9:15 a.m., well past his new hire orientation appointment time. According to his new neighbor, Megan, being late in Elutheria was perfectly acceptable. Still, it wasn’t smart to make a bad first impression. He’d just been delayed on the ride here.

The man grunted and pulled away from the woman. Large drops fell from her naked form and splashed onto the grass below. He adjusted his tie, the only item of clothing he wore besides his watch, and picked up his briefcase.

The woman stuck her hand between her legs and brought it to her mouth, erotically taking his donation in her mouth. She said something inaudible over the running water. The man smiled and gave her a friendly smack on her ass. She returned the favor, sending them both into a fit of laughter. Together they strode across the lawn, heading for one of the large office buildings and chatting along the way.

This time, Mark couldn’t help himself from staring at the woman’s heavenly curves jiggling underneath her dress shirt. They crossed behind the fountain and out of his view, and he snapped out of the trance. He checked his watch again, hoping that somehow the time would read earlier than it had just a minute ago. But time had once again insisted on marching forward, so hurried toward his appointment, pulling his shirt out of his backpack and hastily shoving it on as he went.

The orientation was in a smaller two building on the west side of the campus. The HR department for a company of that size was smaller than usual, and was sandwiched in with IT services. Bad behavior was very rare in Elutheria. Depending on the nature of the crime, deportation was a possibility, with no chance of return. And while criminal behavior was unlikely in a workplace, so were fireable offenses. AdvanceSmart was the largest company in Elutheria. Most employees, like Mark, had their early citizenship contingent on their work at the firm. Problematic behavior could lead to a forced resignationwhich was a oneway ticket out of the country as the citizenship expired.

All of this weighed heavily in the back of his mind as he reached the receptionist.

“Hello, I’m here for my orientation.”

“Are you Mark?” the receptionist asked.

“Yes.”

Her fingers launched across her keyboard. Mark’s eyes were pulled toward her bountiful cleavage splayed perfectly in an unbuttoned dress shirt. He wondered how long the shirt had stayed buttoned or if it had started that way.

“All right, I’ve got you checked in,” she said with a smile. “Have a seat and we’ll be with you shortly.”

Mark took a seat along the side wall, taking a deep breath and trying not to catastrophize. The receptionist wasn’t upset he was late, so no one else would be, right?

He fiddled with his backpack, wondering how long it would be before he was called. Despite his busy morning, the receptionist’s open shirt had sent a twinge down his spine and all the way into his pants. Before the idea could take root, he waved it away. He was already late. If someone walked in on them, what would they think?

Mark frowned. They wouldn’t think anything, would they? This was perfectly normal behavior in Eros. There was no judgment around . It would be as if they’d just caught him midconversation, not midcoitus. The only shame would be internal.

He thought back to his conversation with Megan earlier this morning. He’d met her walking down the stairs of the apartment as they headed to the same bus stop. Within minutes, she was blowing him on the curb as cars passed and neighbors headed to work. And as much pleasure as they’d both gotten from the experience, she wasn’t really doing it because she needed it. She had done it to help him, to show him there was nothing to be ashamed of. His first orientation during the customs process had been in a closed, quiet room. And his visit to his neighbors, the Jacksons, had been secluded in their home. Watching others engage in ual activity in the same room with him had been a large shock. Enjoying it was a further step. But to fully engage in the free use lifestyle, that was another step altogether. Megan, and several strangers, had helped him take one more step, but the next flight was much steeper and longer than the previous ones.

He sighed, reminding himself that Eros wasn’t built in a day. He would adjust to the lifestyle eventually. And there was no need to approach the receptionist; there wasn’t a quota for how much he needed to have in a day. If he wanted to, he could. And if he was embarrassed, even if the sentiment was misplaced, then he didn’t want to. And that was enough.

As he finally wrestled down his feeling of inadequacy at his hesitancy to engage with the culture, a door clicked open and a familiar face popped out.

“Mark?”

“Lily?” he asked, one eyebrow raised. When she recognized him, her eyes lit up.

“Oh, my god! How are you doing?”

He laughed nervously as his new neighbor bounced over to him gave him a hug.

“I’m doing great, what about you?”

When he’d first met her, she’d been taking out the trash in her birthday suit. Greeting the neighbors had quickly devolved into a bout of group oral as they pleasured another neighbor, Richard. It was difficult to picture her without his massive, black cock in her mouth. But the image was far from unpleasant; it was arousing enough to feel a shift in his boxers.

She was just as stunning as he remembered, even with clothes on. She wore a tight, navy blouse that displayed her perky breasts and complemented her olive skin perfectly. Her dark slacks shaped her long, smooth legs and ebony hair that hung loosely down her back. A small name tag hung from a lanyard that read, “LILY KIMURA: HR ASSISTANT” with small heart stickers attached.

Her smile was just as warm as he remembered from yesterday. It sent butterflies through him, not through his groin like the other women he’d met, but through his stomach. Her perfume lit up his senses, pulling more attraction toward her. He hadn’t been this in awe of a woman in years.

“I’m good! You’re my new hire for the dayI didn’t even make the connection.”

“You’reyou’re doing my orientation?”

“Yes! Are you ready to get started? We’ll head back to my office first.”

“Let’s do it.”

He followed her back to the door, which recognized the proximity of her name tag and unlocked. They turned right, heading down a thin corridor with a large window at the end.

“My office is right this way.”

“Sorry I’m late, I…I had some…thethe bus took a while.”

She flashed a kind smile as he struggled to come up with a reasonable excuse.

“You’re fine. It’s a miracle I even got in when I did. Normallywell, never mind.”

She blushed and turned away.

“What?” Mark asked, curiosity burning a hole in his chest.

“No, it’s okay.”

She stopped in front of a door covered with stickers of fall leaves. Mark appreciated the decor, knowing the palm trees in Elutheria never turned that color. Another sticker caught his eye, a small image of a national park in the States.

“Where are you from?” Mark asked. “I’m not sure where Acadia is.”

“It’s in Maine,” Lily said. “I’m from Lewiston.”

“Never heard of it,” he admitted.

She grinned. “You know, you’re not the first to tell me that. It’s practically a village compared to Eros.”

She moved to her desk, inviting him to sit in a small chair facing her and opening up a file on her monitor.

“So, why are you normally late? Is it…”

Her face morphed into an embarrassed expression again. He finished the question reluctantly, worried she would think he was prying.

“…the same reason I was late?”

“Yes,” she said, her forehead a reddishpink. “Normally people will keep me longer at the bus stop, or pull over along the street on the way to the stop. Usually there’s a crowd…I try to leave early, but it’s not enough.”

Mark puzzled over her answer. “Why did you not want to tell me that?”

“I didn’t want you to think I was bragging.”

A laugh escaped his chest. She wasn’t embarrassed about the no one was, here. She just didn’t want him to think she was stuckup with the attention she constantly got. And he understood both sides. She was incredible, stunning in every sense of the word. Mark had interacted with some women like that in the past; some had been pleasant company, but most had been quite full of themselves, the same as any attractive man. Lily was much different. She was friendly and accommodating. It was her job, after all.

“I would never,” Mark said, a teasing smile on his face. His earlier nerves had completely melted. She’d breathed a sense of confidence in him with just a few words.

“I’d hope not,” she said, returning his grin. “Where are you from, Mark?”

“I’m from a small town in Georgia,” Mark said. “I’m sure you’ve never heard of it.”

“Ah, so we’re both from nowhere.”

Mark bit back a retort about getting somewhere with her. He didn’t want her to think he was sleazyjust like Lily didn’t want him to think she was arrogant. His time in Elutheria had been exhilarating so far. Yet she lit up a spark in him without any physical contact.

“Nothing wrong with that,” she continued. “I’m going to give you the brief introduction, resources you need to know, all of that. And when I’m done, we’ll take a tour through the campus, meet your supervisor, eat lunch with a few coworkers, and find your office. Sound good?”

He nodded, finally remembering that he was here to do a job, one he was good at. Her gorgeous, soft eyes pierced into his, sending his heart into a flutter.

“I can’t wait.”

**************

“I can wait.”

“You sure? We can always head to the cafeteria for a snack first before meeting your supervisor.”

“No, I’m not hungry yet. It’s only ten.”

“In that case, let’s go meet Frank.”

Mark shuffled the stack of papers into his backpack. The last forty minutes had been a slog of signing documents. The information was useful, but it was a rare moment of dullness that felt out of place in Elutheria.

The AdvanceSmart campus was huge, nearly half the size of his hometown. It contained over forty buildings for research and work spaces. There was a gym, a cafeteria, a major park, even a small game room. Unlike any other workplace, there was also a kink dungeon to “relax” in during breaks. According to the paperwork, adding the dungeon saw a seventeen percent increase in productivity among workers.

The campus was also connected to Linea Park, which ran along the coast all the way to downtown. The park ended close to Amor University; if Mark ever got a bike, he’d be able to make the commute from work to class quickly and efficiently.

He’d also taken a small psychological wellbeing test. Unlike most countries, Elutheria took the health of its citizens seriously. That also included their mental health. Every citizen was required to do a yearly checkup; he would take care of it through AdvanceSmart.

Mark spun his name tag around his brand new lanyard, following Lily out of the small building and out into the campus.

“So how long have you been in Elutheria?”

“Only a year. I got hired right out of undergrad, same as you. I majored in communication, but got lucky and got my name on some research projects. They liked my work and the opening fit, so here I am. But between you and me, I think I had a leg up.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well…” Lily gestured to her cleavage peeking out of her blouse. Her breasts curved perfectly in the fabric. Every part of him wanted to reach out and squeeze them. Which he could. Why wasn’t he? Something was prickling at the back of his mind. Not every part of him wanted to touch her. A faint part of him wanted to hold her in his arms.

“I still don’t get it.”

“There’s a conspiracy that women get in at a higher rate then men,” she said. “I’m not sure I totally buy it. I’m just happy to be in here. But it kind of makes sense when you think about it.”

“Isn’t the population very even?”

“Yeah, that’s the thing…it’s all manufactured, right? Elutheria is much pickier about who they let enter the country. They turn down a lot of applications. And no one has seen the data, but you can guess who’s applying at a higher rate.”

“Ah.” Mark gestured to his own chest. Lily giggled.

“Exactly.”

“I never took you for the conspiracy theory type. Next you’re going to tell me the moon landing was faked.”

“Oh, you think the moon is real?”

He laughed hard enough to step off the sidewalk. “My mistake, I’ll keep a better track next time.”

“That’s right. Don’t insult my intelligence or I’ll use my lizard hands to stick chem trails in you.”

He hand up his hands in surrender. She gripped the buttons on his shirt and pulled him from the grass. He stumbled forward until their faces were inches from each other. Her eyes were magnets, locking them together. He couldn’t look away. Her beauty captivated him. He wanted every part of her. And he could have her.

“Do you want to…?”

“Yes,” Mark breathed. Her hand slid along his shirt toward his waist.

“Butwe should go meet the boss.”

She flinched, taken aback by his change of heart. “Oh, I thought…maybe later then?”

Alarms blared in his mind, klaxons sounding toolate warnings of his own stupidity. What was wrong with him? The grievances of his upbringing were still haunting him, the hangups around ghosts that wouldn’t move out. Yes, he wanted her, more than anything. And just because they were in public, he’d stopped himself. Made an excuse, a poor one. Across the grass two woman orally pleasured a man in broad daylight as naked and seminaked employees walked past. Yet he was worried about causing a scene.

“Yes, maybe later.”

He pivoted and marched down the sidewalk.

“Um…that’s the wrong way.”

He stopped short and hung his head. Of course it was.

His whole head was on fire as he returned to her, following her down an angled walk toward the nearest skyscraper. She started a canned speech about all the amenities, pointing out various buildings and reciting facts about the campus. Her tone was dry, and she couldn’t get a read on her. Was she upset about his rejection?

He steeled his queasy heart. She had the opportunity toowomen were just as free to use men. But she didn’t take it, so it wasn’t solely his responsibility.

Mark nodded to her speech, completely tuned out. He hadn’t been this embarrassed in a long time, not since he’d tripped on the first day of his Linear Algebra class. Every step brought more regret, and with every breath he tried to hold it down. It only furthered his resolvehe wouldn’t miss a moment like that again. Not with her, and not with anyone.

“You’ve seen a selfsustaining skyscraper before?”

Lily’s disbelief ripped his mind from the future and back into the present.

“Uhno, II haven’t.”

She raised an eyebrow. “Right. Well, if you were listening to anything I’ve said in the last few minutes, you might have guessed that this was the first in the world.”

Mark craned his neck to observe the building. It reached over eighty floors, high enough that he couldn’t quite make out the top from this angle.

“With the foresight and innovation at AdvanceSmart, each building, like most in Elutheria, is designed to be completely selfsustaining. Photovoltaic panels are integrated into the windows and structural materials that make up the majority of the exterior, gaining enough energy from the sun to power the building even without geothermal energy. What the campus draws from the geothermal power is enough excess to power the remaining buildings that solar energy can’t maintain, like a few research labs.”

“Is this where my office will be?”

“Yes, you’ll be on the sixteenth floor. You’ll also have a small station in one of our chemical labs if your work requires it. Do you know what type of work you’ll be doing for AdvanceSmart?”

“My Masters work is going to focus on renewable coastal water and improvement on the desalination plants. There’s some really cool research coming out of AU, and it’s pretty relevant to the…sorry, that’s all boring, isn’t it?”

She shook her head. “No, I think it’s fascinating. It’s all over my head, but it’s great that you’re excited about it!”

The doors of the building slid open to welcome them. A beautiful, looming atrium greeted them in the lobby. Towering plants and greenery stretched for several stories above them, fed by the light filtering through the windows and watered by the rain collection system on the building.

Despite its location along the western coast of North America, Elutheria’s climate had stabilized in the region thanks to the aggressive terraforming efforts of AdvanceSmart. Mark had read every article about it during quarantine, fascinated by the effects humans could have on their ecosystem. The area had been desert, sparsely inhabited by Mexican and American citizens. AdvanceSmart had built an extensive irrigation system filled with water from the cutting edge desalination plants along the coast. With this, they’d planted billions of hardy trees and plants and turned the sandy, empty region into a lush and diverse biome. Unusable swathes of sand and dirt turned into bountiful farmland with enough production to feed the entirety of the growing nation.
